FurMark Will Not Open: Startup Checklist

Before You Start

Install a stable graphics driver, close games and GPU-accelerated applications, and return experimental overclock or undervolt settings to a known baseline unless tuning is the subject of the test. Make sure airflow is clear and monitoring data is visible before load begins.

• Confirm the file came from an authorized source

• Test with default application settings

Recommended Test Method

Begin with a short monitored run. Record the FurMark version, graphics API, resolution, anti-aliasing, display mode, driver version, GPU model, temperature, clocks, fan response, FPS, and any tuning settings. Change only one variable between passes so the cause of a difference remains identifiable.

Stop immediately if the display shows artifacts, the driver resets, cooling fails to stabilize, the system freezes, or temperature approaches the limit published for the exact graphics card. Do not repeatedly reproduce a hard crash or shutdown.

How to Interpret the Outcome

A completed FurMark run shows behavior under that particular workload; it does not certify the entire PC or guarantee stability in every game. Compare results only when the settings match. Confirm important findings with another graphics workload and the real application that originally exposed the problem.

Avoid Misleading Comparisons

Different resolutions, APIs, FurMark versions, driver releases, power limits, ambient temperatures, and background processes can change the result. Keep a simple test log and compare trends on the same system rather than treating one score as a universal rating.
